Really. Not only because it’s faster. And not only because it’s more hip and trendier. And not just because it has much friendlier user interface than Microsoft Internet Explorer. But more than that, it’s because of the myriads range of indispensable add-on (also called plugins in Microsoft terminology) to help our job as webmasters. Best of them all, it’s free. Both the browser and the add-ons are free to download and use.
What are the best and most important Firefox add-ons for webmasters? Here, we list down the most important Firefox add-ons that we use on daily basis.
List of best Firefox Add-Ons For Web Developer
- Web Developer ( aka “The Tool “)

Web Developer Add On For Firefox
What is it good for? Web developer add-ons will add a menu toolbar to your Firefox browser, containing a good range of functions, mostly to control how the webpages are loaded into your browser. You can, for example, load the page without Javascript, or see only the CSS style-sheet file. - SearchStatus ( Firefox SEO dashboard )
- MeasureIt ( Firefox ruler )

MeasureIt Add On For Firefox
What is it good for? Need to find that exact width quickly? Take out the ruler! MeasureIt is the ruler for Firefox, to easily get the pixel width and height of any elements on a webpage. - ScreenGrab ( Firefox printscreen )

Screen Grab Add-On For Firefox
What is it good for? If you are doing computer or Internet tutorials, and making a lot of screen shots then this is surely an add-on for you. Using ScreenGrab, you can capture the webpage, either as partial screenshot of what you see in the window, just a selection, a particular frame or the entire page. You can either save the image as a file or copy the image to your clipboard. - ColorZilla( Firefox eyedropper )

ColorZilla Add On For Firefox
What is it good for? Can’t find that right tone of blue for the background? If you can see it somewhere on the web, ColorZilla can get it for you. ColorZilla has nice useful goodies for webmaster, from the basic but tremendously useful color eyedropper to zooming tool for viewing webpages up to 1000% original size.

SearchStatus Add-On For Firefox
What is it good for? SearchStatus adds menu to your status bar. When installed, the SearchStatus bar lets you view the loaded webpage Google PageRank, Alexa popularity ranking and Compete.com ranking at a glance. In just one or two clicks, you can get lots of information such as Google Category, Alexa incoming links, backward links from Google, Yahoo! and Bing, and WhoIs information. If that’s not enough, you can also enable Highlight Nofollow Links thus can easily distinguish follow and nofollow links whenever visiting a website without having to look at the property or source code.
Other highly popular plugins you may want to check out are SEOQuake, FireBug and GreaseMonkey. I rarely use them, except occasionally using FireBug to debug on javascript error or measuring loading-time bottleneck. Don’t get me wrong, these are superior plugins and are very useful to many webmasters. For me, I find them to complicated and intimidating.
