Please note that the voucher is valid for 30 days from the request date, which means that within 30 days it must be redeemed and fully utilized. This work out to a minimum advertising budget of $3.30 a day, otherwise the un-utilized credit will be void.

To start an advertising campaign, click the URL in the Facebook voucher email you received. By doing so it will automatically register your free ads credit.

Otherwise, login to your Facebook account and visit Facebook Advertising. Click on “Create an Ad” button. You can still key in the voucher code later in payment stage.

You have the option for advertising either your website URL or a Facebook page (Application or Group). Click on the link “I want to advertise a web page.” or “I want to advertise something I have on Facebook.” to toggle between advertising external webpage or Facebook page.

If you are advertising a web page, fill in the destination URL. Otherwise choose the Facebook application you want to advertise.

Next, fill in the Title, Body Text, and upload an image. While Image is optional, it is strongly suggested for more effective ads.

Next step is the targeting of the advertisement. You can fill up with user demographics that you are targeting, including location, age, gender, education, language and so on. Leave blank for any targeting criteria that you are not concerned about.

After that you can set your advertising budget and campaign starting date. From my personal experience it’s better to go for pay-for-clicks (CPC) advertising than pay for impressions (CPM) as Facebook has very low click-through-rate (CTR). Set the Max Bid to the lower part of suggested bid. And remember to set your daily budget more than $3.30 to fully utilise your Facebook ads credit.

Click “Create”. In the next page you can review your campaign for any correction.

If everything good, next is the payment step. Even if you are using the Facebook credit voucher, you’ll still need to enter the credit card details.

If in the beginning you followed the link in the Facebook voucher email, the voucher code would be automatically entered already. If not, you can now click on “I have a coupon to redeem” and enter the voucher code.

Click on “Place Order” and you are good to go. The ads will go through Facebook review process and will be up in few hours time.
