Questions For Google Wave

Google Wave is totally cool ! If you haven’t been following, check out this video.

From the presentation, I have no doubt that Google Wave will revolutionize the way we communicate. There are few questions though, which I hope someone at Google can answer:

  1. How will Google Wave deal with unwanted messages / spam?
  2. Can I control who gets to make changes to the document and who can read-only?
  3. I thing I like about email is that I can work offline while composing the email, and send it only when I’m connected. Will there be any offline mode for Google Wave client?
  4. What are Google Wave limitation in mobile devices? How Google will deal with them?
  5. One of the hottest thing in communication now and what makes Twitter so popular is the ability to broadcast your status to your contacts (even Facebook has it). How is Google Wave going to provide that function?
  6. What will make or break and determine the success of Google Wave is the adoption rate. What steps has been taken to ensure faster and wider adoption? Which major partners has agreed to work together in pushing out Google Wave?
  7. Can I send email to and receive email from non Google Wave users?

If you know anyone in Google, please wave them the questions. At the same time, let us know what you think at the comment below !

    1. Google Wave already has a “Spam” button and I would presume they´ll use similar techniques to detecting spam as they do in GMail

    3. Google has already done lots of work with offline work on web apps using their Google Gears plugin. With Wave however, they´re taking it a step further and using the HTML 5 standard which has built-in support for offline access to web apps. This would certainly allow for writing an e-mail offline and have it be sent whenever you connect. The fact that it´s part of the next HTML standard means you´ll see that kind of offline access to web apps in more and more applications. (yay!)

    7. Google certainly (I thought they mentioned it in the video) expects so-called SMTP (e-mail´s protocol) gateways to be created for Wave, even if it´s not them that make them. That would mean being able to receive and send e-mails from Google Wave.

That´s as far as I understand it :)

I hope that answers some of your questions.

    Wow !
    Thanks, Daniel

    1. I certainly hope it will be even better than current technique for detecting spam in Gmail, for sole reason that current spam detection only works when the email reach the recipient mailbox. If there is a way to prevent spam from the early part of the transmission, that will be perfect.

    3. That’s greeeat !!!

    7. I might have missed it. Gotta watch it again.

    Thanks again, Daniel.

^Can’t wait for my own Google Wave invite. lol
