Infolinks vs Kontera: Is Infolinks In-Text Advertising Any Better Than Kontera?

After dissapointing result with Kontera, I want to give another shot at In-Text advertising to complement my Adsense revenue. This time, I choose to go with Infolinks, one of the most widely used in-text advertising network among bloggers.
What is in-text advertising?
In-Text advertising is a method of online advertising that inserts text link advertisements within the content of a website. Usually, the links will appear as double-underline hyperlinks within the website’s content itself. Upon a hover of the mouse over such a hyperlink, a floating informational bubble opens with content from an advertiser.
Not wanting to repeat the same mistake as using Kontera, I googled Infolinks sucks before signing up. There are some complains about how bad is their pay rate is, but in most cases Infolinks still manage to fare better than Kontera.
The approval process was quick. Within few hours after I applied and installed the code, Infolinks started to display some double-underlined text ads. That beats Kontera which took a few days before starting to fill up the ads.
The next day, when I logged into Infolinks site, their report for the first day is up.
It reported first day earning of $2.12 out of 33k page impressions, which works out to $0.06 eCPM, or 6 cents per 1000 impression. That again, is much better than Kontera.
First, Kontera took more than 1 week before they manage to fill up 30k impression, while Infolinks manage to do that after just the first day. Second, Infolinks’ eCPM of $0.06 is few times better than Kontera’s $0.01 – $0.03 eCPM.
Obviously, eCPM of $0.06 is still very low. From reviews I read, the reported eCPM range from $2.50 to $4. So I decide to hold on first and emailed their customer service.
I don’t even need to wait for 1 day, here is the reply from Infolinks

Since you have integrated only recently it will take time to build up your eCPM. Just be sure to add the script to all of your pages in order to maximize your earnings.Please give your eCPM about a week or two to increase and if after this period of time there is no improvement please let us know. To be frank, I’m impressed with the speed they are replying to my question, and excited to see the increase of the eCPM. Let’s monitor it for a while, and I’ll update you guys again. For now, the score is Infolinks 1 vs Kontera 0.

Honestly, Infolinks sucks…. our ecpm is falling, from 1.5-2$ a month ago to 0,29$ and It’s going lower and lower day after day; we emailed them but we have no feedback from infolinks about what’s the problem could be.

Sorry to hear that.
Our eCPM with Infolinks now has increased to about $0.10. Not exactly a big improvement from previous $0.06, but thankfully so far Infolinks is quite responsive to our emails.

I started with adsense, and was getting 1 click per 200, I was about to switch to kontera, and then I heard that Infolinks payed better so I went to infolinks. I just started with them so we will see how it goes.
Done properly, you should get at least 1% CTR for Adsense. Have you looked into optimizating your Adsense?
My earning is somtime 0.15$ per click and sometime 0.00$ i cant understand infolinks. Now m trying different ads..Just show which type of ads are best for me. Health related ads are good for my website.Website is Freemusicmasti.com
Health related ads are usually paying quite well. However, driving traffic is different matter. It is hard to get good search ranking for health sites due to the high competition.
I have nothing complain about how infolinks rate per click. I think 45 days waiting for payments is more issue than click rate.
I didn’t even thought of that. Actually, come to think of it, wait for the payment probably only for the first month. After that it was a monthly affair.
I’ll try Kontera for one month ,if result is not good then I will switch to infolinks.

Adsense is dwendling bad for me.
Adsense for feeds shows no traffic, though I have a feed counter in my wordpress app it shows I have 9000 reads a month of my feeds.
I am making less than 1/10th what i was making 4 years ago with adsense even though I increased traffic and content quality and my Seo skills have increased 500%. I get tons of traffic yet adsense pay me squat.
so I am liking adsense less and less
How well is infolinks doing you a year later ? Should I make the switch ?
I find that putting affiliate links can give much higher revenue, upwards 10 times of Adsense revenue. The key is finding the right product, which is harder than it sounds.
InfoLinks is TERRIBLE! Their rates are really bad. Their ADs are garbage. Lame targeting. Lame keyword matching. Just random words tagged with bogus ads that they pay you a
whopping 6 cents a page for.
AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Yes, it is actually very low payout, compared to Adsense.
