Yet Another Related Post – A WordPress Plugin
I previously used an ancient related post plugin for this blog. It worked quite well for me. The list of related articles are seldom off topic, and it has helped to push up the pageview per visitors.
However, now that I’m working on to improve this Cheatad ! blog, there are so many things I need to change. The most important is of course getting more visitors and readers to this blog.
Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (YARPP) provide nice additional functions compared to the previous plugin, most importantly is to show related posts in the RSS feeds.

Why that is important? In each article I write, I’m trying to write topics that can get as much readers as possible to be interested, hoping that they will view more articles and subsequently become regular visitor. That is certainly no easy task.
With RSS feed, I get a little help in distributing the article. Keep in mind that RSS subscriber does not guarantee you a regular audience. Think about how many RSS feed you subscribe to that you never.
Here is where Yet Another Related Post Plugin comes in. With the related articles in the RSS feed, we are actually providing the RSS subscriber additional entry point to our website.
The feed subscriber might not be interested in the most recent article that I write, but he/she may be interested in the previous, related article which coincidentally included in the RSS feed by the YARPP.

All the additional options doesn’t hurt either. You can specify “relatedness” factor, excluded categories, and customizing display, all done in the options page.

This plugin is certainly not something new, but I hope this post can find its way to those looking for something similar. How about you? Any plugin you want to recommend? Let us know in the comment below.

Cheatad ! SEO, Google Adsense & Technolgy Blog
This plugin sucks.
1) It’s too complicated and things too complicated tend to go wrong, either with itself or with the other components.
2) It tries to modify the meta description of all my blog posts and don’t offer an option to switch it off.
3) It blatantly promotes itself by placing a backlink to the author’s site at the end of EVERY of my blog posts. This is simply stupid considering there are a ton of “related posts” plugin for wordpress and I don’t know anyone who would not delete it.
Hi Yang,
That’s certainly an interesting observation.
1) Complicated? I would phrase it as “powerful” instead. lol. Anyway, it is actually ready to run out of the box without any additional tweaking.
2) Don’t really get this one. I didn’t find anything suspicious on my meta description. Oops… I don’t have one. Might try later.
3) That’s where the settings come in. There is a setting called “Help promote Yet Another Related Posts Plugin?” under “Display options for your website”. Just untick the box and the self-promotion is gone.
Hope you find this useful. Will certainly appreciate if you let us know which related-post plugin is your personal choice.
